Once, every thousand years, a massive, mythical creature hand-picks a tree to possess. This tree must have many special qualities, including shape, size, girth, age, and many others. After choosing its favorite, it possesses the tree. No one knows why the creature does this, what happens to the tree, or what its intentions are, but they don’t seem to be evil since nothing happens to it. The creature does nothing to the tree itself, allowing it to keep producing food, water, etc. All it does is grows legs, gets up, and starts moving around the woods, replanting itself at random.
